At Home

Staying active indoors can be just as much fun as playing outside. With a bit of creativity, you and your kids can keep moving and have a great time, even in the hot Arizona summer!

Try creating an indoor obstacle course.

Use pillows, chairs, and blankets to create a fun and safe obstacle course. Adults and kids can crawl under tables, jump over pillows, and navigate through tunnels made of couch cushions. Set a timer for added excitement and see who can complete the course the fastest!

Crank up the tunes and have a dance party!

Dancing is not only a great way to exercise but also a fantastic way to lift everyone’s spirits. Create a playlist of your favorite songs and let everyone show off their best moves.

Connect with your body while centering your mind with yoga.

Little ones can also enjoy the world of yoga with simple poses and stretches. There are plenty of adult-level and kid-friendly yoga videos available online that make it fun and easy to follow along. Yoga not only improves flexibility but also can help you learn more about mindfulness and relaxation.

Create a movement circuit with different activity stations.

For example, set up a station for jumping jacks, another for sit-ups, and one for running in place. Set a timer for each station and rotate through them. This way, you get a varied workout and kids can get lots of energy out!

Remember that staying hydrated is important, even when being active inside. Check out these Tips for Staying Hydrated in Arizona’s Scorching Summers for some ideas on how to stay hydrated.
